Definite progress today. As you can see Lee, Opel and I got the Prusa moving today – literally, next step is to crank out some plastic and get some calibration prints going. But it’s always exciting to see the X, Y and Z home for the first time (and not crash into something or make grinding noises).
I’m looking fwd to getting it dialed in and then making a few more of them. If anyone is looking to make their own Prusa RepRap drop me a line and maybe we can get a 3DP build weekender going on.
Also we finally made some progress on the Raspberry Pi front. This had been plaguing us for a couple of weeks now. Nothing was seeming to happen, turns out it was a connection issue to the monitor. My “crappy” Dell flatscreen and it’s totally bogus “display port” and the equally bogus HDMI to Display Port adaptor i bought from the big river failed to do anything. Finally i brought everything home and used a monitor that had worked in the past – and hey presto! Working Pi. What do you know? Octoprint and Print to Peer is next.
Finally the big Printrbot seems to be dialed in, the nozzle is clog free, the drive gear is cleaned of crud and it feels like the steps per mm is accurate after some preliminary testing. So the next step is to print with more shells and less severe forms. But the “form” studies it has produced so far are interesting so i’m happy to keep printing them as we dial it in better.
